Activity One: Mini-Lessons

Mini-lessons are designed by a teacher after correcting students' work. Through the correction of compositions, for example, the teacher notices that many students have run-on sentences. In order to alliviate this problem, the teacher designs a mini-lesson that will help students tackle their problem with run-on sentences. This activity allows students to analyze their own grammatical mistakes and learn from their own mistakes. Mini-lessons are done in 10-15 minutes, and they should be ongoing throughout the year.

Any of the lessons on this curriculum web are excellent examples of mini-lessons.
